Meet the Tetris Jiu-Jitsu Orlando team

Professor Helder Franklin Soares

Professor Helder Franklin Soares has dedicated more than three decades to the study, practice and teaching of martial arts. His journey began in 1988 through Judo, where he developed the discipline, resilience and competitive mindset that became the foundation of his career.

Over the years he established himself as a respected Jiu-Jitsu competitor, earning multiple championship titles. He has also served as a referee for some of the world's most recognized Jiu-Jitsu federations, giving him a unique perspective on competition and technical development.

Beyond the mats, Helder served as a police officer, developing leadership, situational awareness and practical control and self-defense skills that still shape his coaching.

As an instructor he is known for technical precision, a structured teaching method and the ability to connect with students of every age — from a child's first class to a competitor chasing a title.

His mission is simple: help every student become stronger, more confident and more capable, on and off the mats.
